THE ART OF DINO PARAVANO

Dino Paravano - born in Rome, Italy, in 1935,  immigrated  with  his family to   South Africa  in 1947 At  age 12. Art  has  always  been  an intrinsic  part of Dino's life—  he started painting at an early age, tutored  and encouraged by his  amateur-artist  father;  recipient of  a  fine art  Diploma  from the “Institute of Fine Arts,” Rome.  To  further  his  studies  Dino  attended  the  Johannesburg   College  of Art,  traveled  to  Europe on study tours,  but  in  essence he  is  mainly  self-taught.  In  1964  Dino married  Kiki,  an Italian expatriate.  They  have  a  daughter  and  a  son.  Having reached his peak in South Africa,   Dino  wanted  to  expand  his  horizons and  traveled  often to the US, as  well as  many countries around  the world.   Subsequently  Dino  received  international  recognition.  In 1992 Dino and Kiki emigrated from South Africa to the US.  They live in Tucson, Arizona.

Since 1966 Dino has held 15, one-man exhibitions in South Africa's major cities, plus New York city, London, England and Fairfax Virginia.

In 1970 a painting commissioned by the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) was presented to the South African State President, J. Fouche`, at a banquet.  In 1974 his tour of the United States of America, Argentina and Brazil resulted in an invitation to hold a one-man exhibition in New York City in 1976.

Apart from the 15 solo exhibitions, to date Dino has participated in over 300 two and three–man, and group exhibitions in major centers in South Africa, England, Italy, Australia, US, Canada, Belgium, Sweden, Austria, Japan and China, Dubai, and Hong Kong.  Has had work in the Audubon Society in Atlanta, Georgia and New York City, "Game Coin", San Antonio, Texas, "Safari Club International", Las Vegas and Michigan.

A signature member of the prestigious Society of Animal Artists in New York, since joining in 1978, Dino's work has been in all their annual exhibitions and subsequent year tours throughout the nation.

Dino has exhibited at the "Wilderness Congress", Johannesburg, SA and Colorado Springs, Colorado.  The prestigious "Wildlife Artists of the World" and “Natural History Paintings and Sculpture exhibitions at the Everard Read Gallery, Johannesburg S A.  Wildlife shows at Trailside Galleries in Jackson, Wyoming, and Scottsdale, Arizona. Gallery Americana Carmel, California.  King Gallery, (Sportsman's Edge) NY and Nature's Gallery, Akron, Ohio in 1992 where he was, Featured Artist.  The Tryon Gallery, London, Holland & Holland – London – Paris - New York. Mondiale Art, Hong Kong. Humar Gallery, Dubai.

Dino is a regular exhibitor at the National Museum of Wildlife Art, Jackson Wyoming, signature member of the Pastel Society Of America and exhibitor at the juried annual shows.  Member of Oil Painters of America and has exhibited in their annual show.
