THE ART OF KEN LEUNG
Recognized as the master of the enchanted landscape, dreamy mood, and magic reflections of color and light, Ken H. Leung was born on May 14, 1933, in Canton, China. After the death of his father in 1945, he studied painting in Hong Kong, combining the brilliance of Western oils with Eastern brush-painting techniques. The city's art community enthusiasically greeted his first neo-impressionistic works in 1960, and he gained a worldwide reputation over the next 20 years. In 1979, H. Leung became a U.S. citizen and settled permanently in the San Francisco Bay area.
Thomas Leung, oldest son of H. Leung, is widely recongnized for his dreamy landscapes and multi-hued fantasies, as well as his boldly colored abstracts. Born in Hong Kong, his artistic talent was aknowledged early as he won a series of drawing awards while still a child in school. Later he studied with his father and started exhibiting his work. After taking his art degree, he worked with his father to run an art gallery and later to open the existing family business. Today, Thomas Leung paintings can be viewed at many prestigious galleries throughout the United States.
Following in the footsteps of his father and older brother, Richard Leung is rapidly earning recognition as the family's third highly talented landscape painter. Born in Hong Kong, Richard Leung immigrated with his family in 1975 to the United States. In college he studied both art and photography, as well as being tutored by his father. As a result, Richard Leung's technique is often less impressionistic than the other members of the family, though he too takes his greatest inspiration from nature. Today, his work is represented by leading galleries throughout Hawaii and the Western United States. |
