ARTIST STATEMENT

When I compose my art, I try to express things as they appear to me and not always as they are in reality. A strong European flavour mainly due to my upbringing and all my travels is clearly visible in my work. My pieces share a certain simplicity which I feel allows the viewers to interpret the paintings with their own imagination, hopefully taking them to their own place in their mind. I pay close attention to perspective angles, lighting and shadows as I try to create an illusion of depth and a visual way into my paintings. My pieces are created on wood boards with a sculpture-like technique of deep texture and full of character and emotion. My paintings are personal impressions, creations of my imagination and meant to be interpreted by my audience.
